I don’t tell people what they should know,
I tell people what I have learned.     – Ken Burns

Even in the Information age, Japan is still a unique, unknown, and mysterious place. People just don’t know what’s really there.

My name is Richard, I have lived, worked, and traveled in Japan for almost 20 years and I’m trying to figure it out myself. As I bumble and stumble my way through Japanese culture I have been taking extensive notes and sketches.

I love Japan, its language, culture, and history. I want other people to know why so that they can do the same. A blogging travel cafe with an informal view of Japan’s places and people.
